As I’m a fuddy-duddy who doesn’t even own a smartphone, I can’t suggest to you the most functional or safest app for this purpose, but you should be able to find one with some research. If you want to do this on your phone or tablet, it’s a bit more complicated, but there exist apps for at least Android systems called “clone”, “parallel account”, or “multiple account” apps which permit you to run extra copies of an app and therefore multiple accounts at once. There is a similar extension for Chrome called SessionBox. I personally use Firefox for most of my internet needs because it offers a lot of privacy options natively and supports a huge number of privacy extensions, so what I use is called Multi-Account Containers, an add-on that allows you to use different accounts in different tabs and permits you to completely separate your browsing in one tab from browsing in all others. While many people have talked about the dangers of not completely separating your accounts (such as in this post, which also contains good advice generally about tumblr and internet security) oftentimes people cite the difficulty of switching accounts as a reason why they just use sideblogs for their secretive internet activity (or otherwise linked accounts on other websites), and these tools are a simple way to solve this issue. Whether you are a secret radfem, don’t want to be outed about your sexuality or gender identity, don’t want to mix your private and professional lives, or whether you just run a lot of blogs, there are browser extensions that can be used to run multiple accounts in different tabs of a browser. A tip for those managing multiple tumblr accounts that shouldn’t mix
